About Abruzzo and Molise Heritage Society
The Abruzzo and Molise Heritage Society (AMHS) is a cultural organization dedicated to developing and promoting the rich heritage of the Italian regions Abruzzo and Molise throughout Washington, DC and beyond. Founded in 2000, AMHS provides comprehensive programming designed to celebrate and preserve Italian cultural, social, and educational traditions. The organization specializes in hosting engaging community events and activities that bring together Italian Americans and Italy enthusiasts to share in authentic cultural experiences. Throughout the year, AMHS organizes up to six general membership meetings featuring wine tastings, educational presentations, and networking opportunities, along with signature events such as the annual Ferragosto picnic. The Society actively works to increase awareness of the significant contributions made by Italians and Italian-Americans in the arts and sciences, with particular emphasis on those with roots in Abruzzo and Molise. AMHS maintains strong partnerships with the Embassy of Italy and collaborates closely with other Italian American organizations in the Washington, DC area to foster unity and achieve common heritage preservation goals. The organization also publishes the Notiziario, its official newsletter, keeping members informed of cultural news, upcoming events, and community announcements. Additionally, AMHS administers the Grant and Scholarship Fund, a tax-exempt 501(c)(3) organization established in 2007 to support educational initiatives. Whether through membership participation, event attendance, or scholarship support, AMHS provides multiple pathways for individuals in Washington, DC to connect with and celebrate Italian heritage.
