The American Italian Heritage Society in Omaha, NE is dedicated to promoting, preserving, and celebrating Italian culture and heritage through a diverse range of engaging activities and educational programs. Since its founding in 1980, the organization has grown from a small group of seven passionate individuals to a thriving community with over 1,000 members committed to keeping Italian traditions alive. The Society offers comprehensive programming centered on Italian traditions, authentic cuisine, language instruction, religious festivals, folklore, customs, celebrations, music, and dance. Beginning Italian language lessons are offered annually to members, providing an accessible entry point for those wishing to connect with their heritage through one of the Romance languages. The organization also maintains an active genealogy research program, helping members explore and document their family histories. Beyond cultural education, the American Italian Heritage Society hosts major events throughout the year, including the renowned La Festa Italiana, celebrated annually during Labor Day weekend as the Society's flagship event and primary fundraiser. Members also participate in pasta dinners, sausage sales, and other community gatherings. The Society operates The Palazzo, a dedicated venue in Omaha available for banquets, weddings, corporate events, and private functions. As a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, the American Italian Heritage Society welcomes new members and volunteers to participate in its mission of cultural preservation and community building.
