About Coccia Foundation
Coccia Foundation is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization based in Saddle Brook, NJ, dedicated to establishing and supporting comprehensive educational, cultural, and social programs for youth in the Italian and Italian American community. Since its founding in 1994 by Cavaliere Joseph Coccia, Jr., and his wife Elda, the Foundation has developed an extensive portfolio of initiatives designed to promote awareness and celebrate Italian and Italian American culture, history, and societal contributions. The organization operates through multiple strategic programs including sponsored scholarships offering up to $2,000 annually to deserving Italian Studies scholars at partner universities, study abroad scholarships that provide immersive experiences in Italy, and cultural enrichment events featuring Italian arts presentations and academic programs. A key initiative is the K-12 Italian Studies Student Award Program, which currently supports over 50 schools across the Tri-State area, distributing monetary awards to students enrolled in Italian language classes based on teacher-established criteria. The Foundation also sponsors cultural trips, such as exhibits at major institutions, and hosts the annual Italian Studies Golf Classic, its primary fundraising event held at premier venues in New Jersey. Additionally, Coccia Foundation established the Coccia Institute for the Italian Experience in America at Montclair State University in 2003, serving as the academic arm of the organization. Through scholarships, study abroad programs, cultural events, and student associations, Coccia Foundation has helped over 4,000 students while fostering long-term relationships between young people and society, ensuring emerging adults enter adulthood with pride in their heritage and meaningful goals.
